James Blunt still travels by public transport.

Despite being wealthy and famous, the platinum-selling musician insists he shuns the high life enjoyed by most A-list stars.

He said: "I just had fish and chips at the cafe next door and I took the bus yesterday. I have a cap I wear and people don't really see me because they don't expect to."

Although he claims he avoids any star treatment, the 'Same Mistake' singer can cope with the intense interest in his private life, because it is outweighed by the satisfaction he gains from making albums.

Blunt said: "The loss of one's anonymity is a high price to pay and I had to adapt.

"My grandmother has had people knocking on the door to ask who I'm going out with.

"But now I understand the game and am capable of laughing at it while having an amazing time."
