Taylor Swift Vogue Interview Posted by The Dirtiest 18 January, 2012 - 2:14 PM

It’s been a long time since I suffered the heart break of teen love so you’ll have to excuse me if it sounds like I have no idea what I talking about. I really don’t.
Anyway it seems singer Taylor Swift knows enough about teen heart break for me, you and the entire cast of Glee which is a relief.
The folk artist adorns the cover of February's Vogue magazine in the US wearing her usual twee attire. Inside she opens up about her love life and what it was like to grow up in rural Pennsylvania.
We get the impression she wasn’t the most popular kid at school and carries a lot of that baggage around with her. Even though she’s a multimillionaire, platinum selling, world famous musician she still feels like an outsider saying, "I think who you are in school really sticks with you. I don’t ever feel like the cool kid at the party, ever. It’s like, Smile and be nice to everybody, because you were not invited to be here."
She opens up a little about romance, dropping a few bombs about previous relationships, not naming names but we can read between the lines. “If someone doesn’t want to get to know me as a person but seems to have bought into the whole idea of me and he approves of my Wikipedia page? And falls in love based on zero hours spent with me? That’s maybe something to be aware of.” They’re called stalkers Taylor.
"If you need to put me down a lot in order to level the playing field or something? If you are threatened by some part of what I do and want to cut me down to size in order to make it even? That won’t work either." So that’s why she dumped John Mayer.
"If a dude is threatened by the fact that I need security, that’s a bad sign. I don’t have security to make myself look cool. I have security because there’s a file of stalkers who want to take me home and chain me to a pipe in their basement." Seems like common sense.
"Also, I can’t deal with someone who's obsessed with privacy. If you care about privacy to the point where we need to dig a tunnel under this restaurant so that we can leave? I can’t do that." Nice little dig at ex Jake Gyllenhaal who hated the publicness of their relationship.
It’s always hard to tell from these interviews how genuine the answers are, artists nowadays are well coached and know what angles to play for. So it’ll be no great surprise that there are no great surprises in this interview. Taylor Swift comes across exactly as you would expect her to grounded, humble, hard working and nice which is actually really refreshing. You can read the full Taylor Swift interview here.
