Mum And Daughter Caught Up In Driveby Shooting

Port Melbourne residents wake to the sound of gunfire

A scary wake up call for a mum and her teenage daughter in Melbourne on Friday, after their home and car was peppered with bullets.

The Port Melbourne property on the usually quiet Beacon Vista, was shot at a number of times just before 5am, leaving residents shaken up.

“No one has been injured, but there was a mother and her teenage daughter home at the time,” Detective Sergeant David Barry said.

“They’re shaken up, but importantly no injuries.”

Police are in the early stages of the investigation and have not made any arrests.

Forensic experts are onscene combing the home and surrounds for evidence.

Sergeant Barry said some witnesses have said they saw a black vehicle leaving the scene but no description of people at this stage.

More to come.
