Mexico Refuses To Pay For Donald Trump’s Wall
The Mexican government has confirmed it will not pay for the wall that was promised by US President-elect Donald Trump.
During his campaign Mr Trump announced he would build a wall along the US-Mexico border and make Mexico pay for it.
However the Mexican government has no plans to help fulfil Trump’s promise.
"Paying for a wall is not part of our vision," foreign minister Claudia Ruiz Massieu told local television this week.
Mexican President Pena Nieto took to Twitter to express his country’s desire to work with the USA and Mr Trump on other issues.
“I congratulate the USA on its electoral process and I reiterate to Donald Trump our willingness to work together in support of bilateral relations,” President Nieto tweeted.
“Mexico and the USA are friends, partners and allies that must continue collaborating for the competitiveness and the development of North America.”
He also reportedly phoned Mr Trump to congratulate him on his win.
