Do you know any great 'fake hobbies' for meeting girls?
Hamish & Andy 3 October, 2008 - 6:18 PM
Irish Dave and his Star Chamber have discovered the Holy Grail this week... the perfect place for single guys to meet ladies. Do you have any other ideas for 'Fake Hobbies' where guys can meet girls?
Everyone knows the main ways to meet women is in a bar, or as a "friend of a friend"
But there are always innovators out there who are able to think outside the square and find the locations of untapped reservoirs of single females.
So a session of the Star Chamber was called to find the best stories we have heard of guys setting up or getting involved in what amounted to fake hobbies specifically to meet girls.
Going to Yoga, Pilates or Aerobics doesn't count as women find that creepy, because it is!
The Power of prayer:
Some guys who went to an all boy's school realised there wasn't readily available access to girls of any description so they hatched a plan - necessity they say is the mother of invention.
They approached a teacher, whom they knew to be quite religious & they proposed starting a prayer group for anyone from years 10 onwards.
The most cunning part of this plan was that they didn't suggest the involvement of any other schools until about the 4th week of the meetings - so the teacher wasn't suspicious at all.
Once the group was established the guys suggested that they could involve other schools
It just so happened that there were 2 girls' schools in the immediate vicinity of the school and the teacher agreed it was a great suggestion.
So the teacher approached the other schools and asked a fellow teacher if there would be any pupils interested in joining the newly established prayer group.
A number of girls jumped at the chance and so every Thursday night from then on the two schools held joint "prayer" meetings where the students prayed together.
Within a week or two they all ended up going out one of their fellow prayer group attendees from the neighbouring girl's school - GENIUS.
The Book Club:
I was reticent to actually share this one, as information about the existence of book clubs was passed to me in the very strictest of confidence.
However, our spy is OK to let blokes know about the best kept secret in "fake hobbying".
Around the country women meet on the 2nd Wednesday of the month and having all read the same book - they spend the night drinking wine and talking about it
This happens in pubs, men just don't know about it.
We are welcome to attend & our spy informs me that the ratio of women to men is 10:1.
It's like some kind of science fiction movie where all the men have died of a mystery virus & its happy days for the lucky blokes left alive.
You also come across as being all sophisticated and sensitive because you read a book.
Other Gold Mines: Cooking classes, learning a language, Pottery classes.
For the Ladies: DIY & Car Mechanic classes - its sensitive office guys learning Man's stuff.
Sooo 2007: Salsa classes, Latin dance - fake hobbying has moved on!

Theatre courses or acting classes are fabulous for that! Granted, you get the odd bloke who bats for the other team, but the majority of the blokes are sensitive, artsy guys with a great sense of humour.
Not into acting you say?, can't hit a note to save your life?, two left feet?...not the point is it!...fake it 'til you make it as they say!
