Matt & Jo's Hot Racing Tips Posted by Team Matt & Jo 5 October, 2009 - 9:27 AM

Everyone loves the Spring Races and can't wait to slip into the hottest dress, the fanciest fascinator and the highest heels to hit the track.

But we all know that things can go very very wrong when you mix high fashion with the outdoors ...

What do you do when a fashion disaster threatens your amazing day at the races?

Here's some scenarios and the tips which Fox listeners have given to save the day. Don't leave home without this guide!

So You've Got A Broken Zipper ....

Jo held her handbag over the gaping garment, but Matt said she should have just worn it with pride and claimed it's a fashion statement.

Your Winning Suggestion: Jo in Reservoir says you need to take the clip out of your fascinator and attach it to the broken zip. Way to spruce up your skirt!

Heath in Williamstown says roll the top of the skirt down over the broken zip.

Carolin in Ashwood suggests turning the skirt to the side so that you flash your hip - so hot right now!

All Your Friends Are In The VIP Tent, How Do You Sneak In?

Jo says she's hung around the toilets and waited for a girl to drop her pass!

Lauren suggests getting your friends in the enclosure to cause a destraction (boobs out is good) and then you can slip in when no one's looking.

Ben says you could try an old concert trick he reckons works - bribe the door staff! He says act confident, shake their hand and try to slip them some cash.

Your Winning Suggestion: Diane came up with a clever use for your pashmina. Tie it around your waist like an apron, grab a tray and quickly pass through the door as a waitress. Then ditch your outfit and have some fun!

How Do You Impress A Guy At The Races?

Jo thinks you could tuck your skirt into your undies as you leave the toilets and give him a bit of a flash!

Your Winning Suggestion: Fiona says you should catch a guy's eye then as the horses cross the finish line jump up and down as if you've won a lot of money!

Catherine thinks you should act dumb and ask a guy for a racing tip

Narelle says don't be trashy: keep your heels on and act like a lady!

How Do You Avoid Getting Trapped In A Boring Coversation?

Stacey says do a little burp and pretend you've just eaten a bad prawn, then excuse yourself and head to the bathroom!

Joanna suggests faking a coughing fit.

Amber would pretend that her uncle was Bart Cummings and she needed to join him in his box.

Jodie would tell them that her chicken fillets had come unstuck and she needed to fix them!

Your Winning Suggestion: Brook would start talking about her (fake) 10 year old kid to try and scare them away!

How Do You Cope With Food And Wine Stains?

Your Winning Suggestion: Kelly suggests taking safety pins with you and gathering the area around the stain. Turn misfortune into fashion!

Rebecca says if one gets stained, the whole group gets stained. There's safety in numbers!

Katrina takes a flower with her to pin over any stains

Laura advises guys with stained ties to steal a clean one from a sleeping stranger ...

the best way to pick up a nice guy at the races is to ask him to help you carry drinks back over to your group.
